15-16th century silver signet ring. The bezel is engraved with a crowned capital letter I. It could be “just” a letter I but most probably it would signify Jesus from IHS / Iesus Hominum Salvator / It could explain the crown.
Very similar example in the British Museum / given to them in 1897 by Sir Augustus Wollaston Franks/
The museum published the bequest and on page 77 iem No 510 Crowned capital letter I between a star and a crescent moon. The star and the moon would represent haven. Jesus crowned King of the Havens.
I have often seen this device sometime the I is intertwined with flowers.
Rings with religious symbols have been popularized by the Crusades,

Measurement of bezel:14.5 mm
