Eighteenth Century Cameo

Description

Ca 1780 three layered agate cameo in later gold frame. The cameo is one of the best i ever had, BUT it has hairline cracks. The subject is possibly a portrait of Antinous / lover of Emperor Hadrian /
The cameo is larger than normal, and should go to a collection as I feel its wonderful quality will be lost on a jewelry purchaser. I have had many damaged or broken cameos , all ended up in various collections where a damaged stone is of similar status as a marble missing a limb, etc.
