A very rare high carat Roman finger ring, of the 1st-2nd century with the head of Cupid in high relief. The god of love who rules the divinities of Mount Olympus as well as mortal men and women, Cupid, son of Venus, is depicted as a chubby mischievous infant. For a very similar illustrated example see Rings by Diana Scarisbrick page 62) The face of Cupid is mildly rubbed. Small corrosion on back of shoulder. Size “D” Weight 3.6 gr.
